When you switch VPN types in Microsoft Windows, Windows erases your pre-shared key — even if you change your VPN type from Automatic to L2TP/IPsec and click the cancel button.
If this happens to you, you'll need to re-enter your pre-shared key after you set the connection type to L2TP/IPsec.
