connected but "still waiting"...
Hi there !
I didn't find any similar problem in the forum, so i decided to ask here if somebody have an idea...
I have a laptop and a desktop computer.
Desktop with win 7 : vpn connection to vpn is a succes.
Laptop with vista
: i tryed manually, and with Automatic software, PPTP & L2TP, changing server, without any firewall or antivirus, after reboot, and i still have the same problem :
1. PPTP : i'm connected, no error number, but nothing happened. Pinging google for the test works in command prompt, but with internet explorer or Firefox, waiting... waiting... nothing...
2. L2TP : Taking more than 64 secs, and i have an error 789, (security negociation error)...
I'm sure purevpn is working fine and problem comes from my laptop, but if somebody already knows about that, it will be great !
Thanks in advance for your help !

Dear Leo,
The PPTP connected but no data transfer, this is most often a reason when your MTU settings need adjustment.
Please take a look here : http://purevpn.com/faq.php#14
This is a write up to troubleshoot and enable secure and fast web browsing :-)
I hope this helps,

I'll try to set my MTU slower... and i'll let you know
Thank you very much, Tech, to put me on the right way !

Hello again !
I set MTU at 1342, and arround 800 in tunnelMTU config, nothing change.
In fact, it works when i connect to VPN just after reboot, after changing registery. But if i want to change server, or simply want to leave VPN and be back, (i disconnect from VPN, and reconnect) : problem is back, again this "waiting..."
Vista mysteries...
If anyone have an idea... thanks again !

Hi again Leo21,
I would like to tell you that due to different networks and paths to different servers the optimum MTU will not be same for all. MTU value is server/location specific.
Regarding problem getting back, would you try running the checks described in above FAQ at the time when you reconnect and it starts giving trouble? Do you find the MTU keeps lowering? Adjust it to the least possible one.
Furthermore, depending on your location, try to optimize for the server nearest to you

Hi Tech and Team,
Thanks for your replies and help. MTU don't seems to lowering or changing, nothing change on this side. I think problem comes from vista small detail i can't find, linked to some material / driver on my system, or due to an old proxy software i could have used in the passed. Unfortunately, i can't find how to get my registery back as at beggining...
I think i will migrate to Win7... ^^
Thanks again.
