Hi Ebsy,
Just want to say thanks for making a task such as setting up a VPN enjoyable with your offbeat humor in the guide you posted.
I found your guide as I was searching for a solution to my problem having setting up my VPN for my Xbox 360.
I followed your guide and several others to a tee actually but still no dice on getting it to work.
The situation is this, I joined a VPN provider and was able to setup a VPN to my Vista laptop via a software download they provided.
However, when I try the diy method of setting up a VPN I can never get connected and always get a connection error, usually 619. (this isn't my main concern however as I have the software setup to rely on)
My problem is this, I can get the Vista laptop to recognize and use the VPN assigned ip address but when I try to sign in on the 360, it ALWAYS uses my original ip address. It circumvents the VPN assigned ip address. Now I've tried every possible combination to my knowledge and what I've found online on sharing, ICS, bridging but still the 360 just won't acknowledge the VPN ip. It always uses my original ip.
I'm guessing I'm overlooking something and I'm hoping there is a simple fix to this but with just this info, I'm wondering if you wouldn't happen to have any suggestions for me on how to remedy this problem?
I appreciate you taking the time to write your guide and help others that have been in the same boat as me with setting up a VPN/360.
If you need more info, let me know, I'll be happy to give you more detail to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks,
