    Default Slow download speed

    Hi,

I purchased a shared IP adress account for one month to try the service out and have noticed that the download speeds when I am file sharing is drastically reduced in comparison to when I am not connected to the VPN. Connected to the VPN I can usually get no more than 100-120 kb/s. But when I disconnect, it skyrockets up to 300+ kb/s.

Is there something I am doing wrong? How can I get a faster speed? I have tried using all the different servers (except for the US ones). Thanks

    Dear Face Plant,

Sorry to hear of your issues.

I would like to tell you that we use to provide 8-9 different servers to every Shared IP VPN account including US, UK, Germany, Canada and Netherlands VPN server. This makes a worldwide VPN network with servers location selection has been kept so that MAX users around the world get best speed at least on 3-4 servers, that's our planning and purpose behind providing this many servers.

Many people in developed countries never have such speed issues with Purevpn. Infact developing countries with slower connections like 0.5 - 1.0 Mbps average connectivity rarely report speed issues. I would like to know what country are you based so I can get back with my research and suggestion.

By the way, have you tried our latest German server? Please contact support department if you haven't heard of the new fast german vpn server yet.

    Awaiting your response,

    Regards,
    The PureVPN Team

Yes, I've tried the different servers, some seem to be faster for me than others. I am unsure as to whether I've tried the German one yet, at this moment I can't connect to it so I'll try again later.

I'm in Canada, Ontario. I mainly use the Canadian servers, they seem to work the best for me. But still, the speed is slower when I'm connected to the VPN rather then without it.

    Thanks for your help.

    Dear Face Plant,

You are welcome, I don't see any issue with German node - Would you please confirm you tried connecting with the latest German node offered last week?

Regarding speeds on Canadian node specifically, please get back to me with trace route from your location so we can trace where is the bottle-neck occuring.

I would appreciate if you provide trace route in a support ticket rather than posting here, that's for security reason.

    Best Regards,
    The PureVPN Team

Nevermind about the German server, I can connect to it now with no problem.

Whats a trace route? What do I have to do to get one so I can posit it in a support ticket.

    Thanks for your help

    Dear Face plant,

    Good to hear :-)

Regarding trace route, please run the following command from your command prompt:

tracert [hostname or IP of server]

    Let us know,

    Regards,
    The PureVPN Team
