Abc player on the ipad

Hi I'm wondering if you could help me. I've moved to the uk for 3 months with work and while I'm here I've picked up the iPad 2 but to my surprise they don't have abc player over here.

Is it possible to use VPN to acess the us app store and then get the abc player and watch it during my time in the uk?

If it is possible do you know how you set this up on the iPad as I'm new to this VPN stuff
